Startup Accelerator Betaspring is teaming up with the Netduino team to host Digital Meets Physical, the most kick-ass hardware hackathon in Providence, RI on January 28-29.

Digital Meets Physical will bring makers, software hackers, and DIY geeks together for two days of outrageous fun, using the Netduino platform and other fun toys to build our brains out.

We'll be hacking at the AS220 Labs, a hackerspace where tools, technology and inspiration abound.  With no less than 10 top quality watering holes within spitting distance, power breaks and refueling will be done in Providence style (that is, deliciously).

Never played with the Netduino?  This open source electronics platform uses the .NET Micro Framework and features a 32-bit micro controller and a rich development environment that's fully open to users. Use the design files and sample projects to learn and be inspired, then remix 'em until you get what you want, how you want it.

Need more? Kippkitts will be on hand as a sponsor to provide their open source hardware kits for the hackathon.  Kippkitts enable devices to heat, cool, measure, move, and control things around you.  KippKitts products currently include low-voltage, high-efficiency vapor cycle heat pumps, remote controlled battery powered solenoids, high-power PID servo actuators, and Netduino compatible shields for motor control, temperature management, lighting control, wireless interfaces, among other cool things.

GreenGoose will also be sending some of their just-launched sensors for hacking. GreenGoose sensors make doing everyday things more playful! They're wireless stickers and measure what you do. Stick them on pet leashes, toys, toothbrushes, medicine bottles, toilet seats and lots more. They automatically tell what's happening. Its part of a whole new world of apps that help us play more and live better.

Netduino creator Chris Walker and Kippkitts inventor Kipp Bradford will be hacking with us, on site to answer questions and inspire you to bring your A-game to the table.

Come get your geek on. Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What we do:

Twice a year, startups from around the country come for Betaspring's intensive 12-week accelerator program. Our full-immersion program, which runs in both Spring and Fall, enables teams with a strong start on a high-growth venture to rapidly transform into fundable, scalable companies. We've accelerated 72 companies in six sessions and our alumni have raised $25M in follow-on funding.

Throughout the program, we work with our startups to refine their products/services, accelerate user/customer aquisition, and test their delivery and business models. Through interactions with Betaspring Mentors and select audiences, each startup polishes their company pitch and demo to present to investors and potential partners throughout the session, conclusing with a series of launch events during week 12.

By the conclusion of the program, companies are well-positioned to attract follow-on funding or have built a path to profitability wherein they can operate without additional investment. An active alumni and mentor network sustains and supports Betaspring startups after the program as they tackle the world. Learn more or apply at betaspring.com.
